Brisbane International Airport Information
Brisbane Airport (IATA: BNE) is the third busiest airport in Australia, serving the city of Brisbane. It is a primary hub for Virgin Blue and secondary hub for Qantas and low-cost airline Jetstar. in 2008, it was voted the best airport in the Australia-Pacific region, and the airport with the world's friendliest staff by Skytrax. The International Terminal has won the Queensland architecture Award.
Originally a farming area, Eagle Farm was announced as an aerodrome in 1925 in the area that is now Brisbane Airport. Qantas started flights there in 1926. While in operation, Charles Kingford Smith landed there on 9 June 1928, after completing the first trans-pacific flight in his Fokker F.VII, the Southern Cross. His plane now lives at the airport in an onsite museum.
