Car Rental in the Terminals

Bus and Shuttle Services
There is a shuttle company which specialises in airport transfers, called Con-x-ion Airport Transfers (www.con-x-ion.com). These depart every hour on the hour to take pre-booked customers right to their door- you can also arrange a pick-up for transfer to the airport.
The cheapest option is to take public buses to the airport. The service numbered 320 connects to Brisbane’s Airtrain, and travels from Chermside, Wavell Heights, Eagle Junction, Bowen Hills, Fortitude Valley and the City. The 308 service also offers buses from Chermside through Wavell Heights, Nundah, Toombul, Number 1 Airport Village (DFO Shopping Centre) to Boronia Road at Brisbane Airport. Check translink.com.au/travel-information/network-information/ for more details.
Brisbane’s Airtrain is the most reliable and affordable way to move between the city and the airport. Leaving the airport, you will arrive in Brisbane’s centre in only 20 minutes and vice versa. The train has stops in Bowen Hills, Fortitude Valley, Central Station, Roma Street and South Brisbane to ensure anyone can make use of it. At the airport, there are stations located directly outside both terminals, and services depart every 15 minutes during peak hours and every 30 minutes at other times between 5:40am and 10pm. You can save on tickets by pre-booking them online (www.airtrain.com.au), and if you purchase them at the station they are currently $14 for one way between the airport and central Brisbane, with prices varying depending on which stop you wish to travel to. Discounts apply for concessions, children and return tickets.
The Airtrain also runs services to the Gold Coast, which cost from $28 one-way depending on the station you wish to get off at. Concession and children’s discounts apply The train stops at Ormeau, Coomera, Helensvale, Nerang, Robina and Varsity Lakes. These run between 6am and 10pm every half hour, and more frequently during peak times.
The Gateway Motorway can be easily accessed from both terminals, the onramps for both directions being found along Moreton Drive. From the International Terminal, turn right along Airport Drive and at the roundabout, get on Nancy Bird Way and go left to get on Moreton Drive, then follow signs for the Gateway Motorway. From the Domestic Terminal, get on Moreton Drive via Dryanda Road and continue to the onramps.
To head into the city centre, the best road to take is the East-West Arterial Road/Airport Link which enters a tunnel not far from the airport. From either terminal, go left along Airport Drive which becomes the East-West Arterial. Once in the tunnel, follow signs to exit for the city centre. Be aware that this is a tolled route!
There are convenient taxi ranks at both terminals. The Domestic Terminal rank is located front and centre outside the terminal, and the International Terminal rank is located at the north end of the arrivals area on Level 2. Be aware that most taxi companies charge an access fee of $3.30 to all airport pick-ups. Look for Black and White Cabs or the Yellow Cab Co. The fare from the airport into central Brisbane generally costs between $40 and $50.
